I wanted to prepare something special to celebrate this anniversary but school and private life wouldn't let me... still, when I get back home on Sunday, free from mock exams and a Spanish competition I'm entering this Friday, I promise- now really- to do something special.

Japanese texts on both Hide's and Yuuta's cards say 'Meri Kuri'- Merry Christmas.

By the way, am I the only one not surprised by these cards looks? I mean, let's compare them to the ones from 2009:

...the only significant change we can notice is in Imai's cards. From a kind-of-self-portrait *sorry, but this reindeer's expression just resembles him a lot ^^''* to a picture of a dog...

But, for the rest, it's practially the same, anyone could guess the authors.

I wanted to write a comment below the video on youtube, but there occured some kind of error. Also, I exceeded the words limit. So let me comment on this performance here.

Something's wrong with my connection and I can't put the video here directly, so I had to put a link instead. But I bet you've all seen the video already.

Is it just me or has this song grown as melancholic as ever?
What I mean is... when they performed it in 1991, the lyrics were relevant to what just happened (Atsushi's mother died). There, Atsushi was so emotional, his voice was often breaking. He seemed fragile and lost.
Here it seems as if it was something that happened in a distant past, that still lingers as an unforgettable memory in his heart, but now it's more melancholic and a bit less desperate.
Which does NOT, by any means, discrease the amount of emotions that he poured into the performance.
Still, this song has been with him for 20 years now... just as the memory of his mother.

I mean, it's only logical that this seems a bit 'less emotional' and more sentimental- twenty years is a long time.

But knowing the circumstances that accompanied this song's creation, I can't help but think of this track as of what it truly was- one of many ways to say goodbye to the person you loved the most.

That's why I needed to compare it to the old performance.

Now, I doubt if any band can ever amaze me as much as BUCK-TICK still do. They're splendid as ever.

Oho, look what happened, I MADE A NEW TRANSLATION. *I can't believe it either*
I'll probably look&feel like a zombie tomorrow at school, but, WHO CARES, I FINALLY DID SOMETHING!!
It's a translation of Atsushi's 'Shingetsu', one of the best tracks from his solo album, 'Ai no Wakusei'. It's such a beautiful vampire love song... so powerful. And intense. Enjoy ^ ^

I've just uploaded my new fan video to my YT account, and now I'm working on some translations. It's been a long time and I bet most of you have forgotten about me, and I can't be surprised or upset about it- I know it's all my fault. Just, life happened, and I had to settle some things *ok, try to settle them.*. Also, I haven't been listening to B-T this much these days. None of my feelings towards them has changed though, they're still my favourite and most treasured band of all times. They're always here, somewhere, hidden deeply, waiting to be discovered again.

I need to catch up with all the news and I'm pretty nervous about that. I'm such a bad fan lately...

The countdown for their 25th anniversary has started and I haven't said a thing about it.

I'm sure that no one's gonna read it anyways, so I'll just finish it here and continue working on translations :) And... well, just so you know- this summer I went to London again. And I went to Kilbourn to find Master Rock Studios where B-T recorded 'TABOO'... but I'll tell you about that in another note. I'll have it written by Friday, I think :)

I've been away for a really long time, now that I realize... personal stuff happened.
I've missed B-T so much and I'm hoping to come back here.
As for now, I'm leaving you with my new fan fiction which is Atsushi/Issay (please, don't read if you don't like yaoi) and is written for my friend, Agata, because it's her birthday tomorrow *and I've always wanted to write a fic for her, so... ^ ^*.

SIX/NINE 16TH ANNIVERSARY

IT'S BEEN ALREADY 16 YEARS SINCE THE TIME OF 'SIX/NINE' RELEASE!

Yes! My beloved album ever was released when I was barely 3 years old!

I wanted to make a proper note, to translate 'Aikawarazu', to complete the 'Six/Nine section', but due to many obstacles, I simply can't. But hopefully, I'll have done it until the end of the week. I just need to settle some things in school- the end of the school's year is coming, and it always means extra work.
But, I did a BUCK TICK- Kick (Daichi wo Keru Otoko) ENG PL SUBS yesterday to make it up to you somehow^ ^

These days I feel like writing something and I truly need B-T for it. I've already used them with 'Miu', 'Kyokuto yori ai wo komete' and kind of with 'Dress'. And the whole '13kai wa Gekkou'.

I missed 24th of January, Yuuta's 44th birthday.

So. Here's a magazine, about Japanese culture, called 'Otaku', in Poland. And, in the newest issue, those of you that live in my country can see on pages 45-46 an article... yes, about your favorite band ^ ^

I'm kind of pissed off... since a few days I'm trying to finish the translations for the requested 3 songs. And thought I have the lyrics already translated, I can't put them into the videos, why? Because my Windows Movie Maker just sucks. Sorry for saying that, but that's the truth- and the reason why I don't put any new videos recently.
So, if any of you knew ANY better programme for making subtitles than WMM, I'd be really grateful if you'd let me know about it.
Before that happens I feel like there's not gonna be any translated videos.
I'm so sorry for that, but I can't fix this ******* programme.

I want to apologize for not-writing. My school started on 1st September. That's the first thing. The other is he fact that these last days I was really ill and couldn't even see the computer. ATSUSHI ON DER ZIBET'S NEW ALBUM!

When I read it on B-T's official site, I started to cry. Tell me I'm stupid, I don't mind. It's been a while since something moved me this much.

As we all know, Atsushi sang on Der Zibet's album once, back in 1991. It was 'Masquerade' included in 'Shishunki II' album. Atsushi also sang on ISSAY's solo album 'Flowers' in 1994 ('Koi no Hallelujah'). ISSAY was a guest performer in B-T's 'Six/Nine' album (1995), in 'Itooshi no Rock Star' track. He also went on Somewhere/Nowhere tour with the band.

Believe me or not, but I was waiting for this day to come since I got to know those amazing tracks they made together. Thought I was always sure it won't come true.
And now, look- Hitoshi is crying in front of her computer, because this day actually CAME.

Yay, that's what we've been all waiting for... the new PV!

So, um... probably I like 'Dokudanjou Beauty' a litle bit more... not the song only^ ^''
'Kuchizuke' is not that energetic, it's really slow, etc. (damn, forgive me my English today, I just can't write o.O) Atsushi almost doesn't move his lips (thought he moves them more than in 'Mona Lisa' XD). I still can't get used to the new Imai ^ ^
But I love the part where all the band members are like doubled- the real ones meet with the 'ghost' ones- and Yuuta ghost holds an umbrella XDD LOOOL, I love this part <33

YES, IT FINALLY HAPPENED! A popular, young Jrock band which made a cover for BUCK TICK's huge hit 'dress', got a chance to perform this song with Atsushi!
Wow, they had to feel enormously happy & proud of themselves...
Thought I'm not a fan of Takanori's voice (nor of the abs' version of 'dress'), I found this performance really brilliant. It's so full of energy, those two voices together along with the heavy, really good music and the melody we all know so well...
Ah, and 'kyaaaa' for the hug ;]

Buck-Tick's second single of 2010 will be entitled "Kuchizuke" ("Kiss") and will be released this summer!

"Kuchizuke" was written as the opening theme for the anime "Shiki," slated to air starting July 8th on Fuji Television's noitaminA program. More details will be released as they are decided. NoitaminA airs Thursday nights starting at 1:15AM on Fuji Television, Kansai Television, Tokai Television, and BS Fuji. "Shiki" was based on the manga by Fujisaki Ryuu, which was based on the novel by Ono Fuyumi. Please check the Shiki official website for more information.

'Kuchizuke' a song for anime!

Well, first Trinity Blood ('dress'), then XXXHolic ('Kagerou'), Death Note ('Diabolo'), even a TV series, GALACTICA ('Dokudanjou Beauty'), now another anime. Interesting ^ ^

Yup, their newest song is a theme of anime called 'Shiki' (屍鬼). It's a horror anime based on the same titled manga. You can read its description >>here<< and see its official site >>here<<.

Well, it looks kinda interesting...

But, what is most interesting for all of us, is obviously the song, ne?

From what I can hear, it resembles DB really much. But, well, nevermind. The thing is that they're still recording new stuff.

All you BiTches around the world!!! Such a great day came today!
It's been already 2 YEARS since I became a BiTch!

[ok, since I got B-T to know. But still^ ^]

You can see my 1st anniversary note >here<. So many things happened since that time. My collection is way bigger than a year ago, and so is my B-T knowledge. I can't believe that time runs that fast [I'm getting older, oh, no T___T] For those of you that not know- I got to know B-T on 15th May 2008 at 20:13:40 exactly, thanks to 'dress'. But I won't bore you and repeat myself, so go to this note if you haven't read this story already. Anyway, today I celebrated it, playing 'dress' video at 20:13:40 and nearly cried. Cried of my longing for B-T (they're not appearing in my life recently), cried because of the happiness that this song and B-T itself give me, cried because of the velocity of time, cried because...

...it's also the 15th anniversary of releasing 'Six/Nine'- the world's best album ever.

So, two freaking important things happened for me today, so I just can't keep cool T___T
OK, maybe I'm too dramatic. But, you know, B-T are so special to me, and thought I've been kind of avoiding them these days (or maybe: thanks to that), I have to admit that my life is bounded with them in the way I can't explain (maybe those 102 dreams can be an explication...).
I've met so many amazing people, fantastic music & literature (Acchan! Thank you for Baudelaire!), learnt so much of Japanese and some other languages, improved my drawing skills, written so many stories and so on. I can't thank B-T enough. Maybe this site can be a thanksgiving, thought it will never be an enough thanksgiving.

OK, to not bore you- thank you so much for all your comments, over 20,200 visits, 90 YT subscriptions, all the wonderful messages and help. I want to keep this site going, thought I'm not as active as I was before, but that doesn't mean I've lost my interest or something. It's just a lack of time.

How much I missed you...
And for how long I haven't written anything here...
So many things happened. Too much to write. It won't make sense anyway, will it?
First- the school. It takes so much time recently. Then- the competitions. Drawing a comic. Ash.
Also- the laziness. Everyone needs to take a break (like B-T did once in the late 80's, as far as I remember). Mine was too long, I know.
I was so confused during this period of time, I almost didn't listen to music at all, or just a little, I didn't think about B-T (o.O), and when it came to Acchan's BirThday- yes, as you could see, I didn't write A WORD about it, thought Atsushi is my idol & perfect man, etc. It was like this:

6th March- *Oh, tomorrow Acchan will be 44! I need to write about it on ♠BT no UTA♠ ! ^o^
7th March- *Hm. I forgot something. I know I did o.O* ...
15th March- *DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN* <=== Hito realised. I haven't finished the interview translation yet, thought I'm a halfway through it. I didn't touch it since I wrote the last February note. But I'll do it soon. What more to say... it's quite strange for me, so many things happened, especially yesterday... I don't know if you have heard about it. For us, the Polish people, it's such a huge tragedy, but, I think, it's not a tragedy for the country itself if not fot all those families who's lost their beloved ones. I still cannot believe, it happened so fast... OK, to not bore you anymore, I'll stop here. See you in the next note. Now, I won't disappoint you. *Hopes so*

Episode 143: Wrapping it up at the DAY IN QUESTION

Hi everyone!

How have you all been doing over the holidays?
This is Joana from musicJAPANplus and before I started my holidays I had the chance to go see BUCK-TICK live at Nippon Budokan on December 29th - a well-respected band in a well-respected concert hall.

When I started translating for musicJAPANplus, a concert review of BUCK-TICK's "Day in Question" was actually one of my very early translations; therefore, I had been really curious if the concert would be like what I had known from the article at that time.
So, in the evening of that day I left for Nippon Budokan and when reaching the station of Kudanshita, it was clearly visible, that "something" was going on. As soon as I stepped outside the train station, lines of people all heading into one direction passed by with steady steps and a certain anticipation could be felt. The closer I got to Nippon Budokan, the more intense the feeling got.
As usual, the show had been sold out, thus a number of people waiting outside the hall were holding up signs, asking whether some of the passer by's were willing to sell their tickets. This clearly showed what kind of status BUCK-TICK as a band is having among their fans. Speaking of which, the band is also having a great variety of fans for sure. While with most younger Visual-Kei bands, the range of fans seems to be limited to a certain age group, BUCK-TICK don't have such a limit - men, woman, older, younger, casual, lolita, punk - it really didn't matter. The people aiming for Budokan that night only had one common goal, which was seeing their favorite band live.
Inside the Budokan area, fans were lining up to get a hand on the many tour goods, taking pictures of friends and family in front of the large sign reading "BUCK-TICK - Day in Question", which was spread over the wide entrance gate under the first roof or of the flowers, with messages congratulating BUCK-TICK to another successful year. Amongst the chatter and laughter, the excitement clearly grew with every step taken closer to the hall.
Nippon Budokan itself is certainly something to be impressed by - perfectly fitting a band like BUCK-TICK, and the atmosphere inside the hall emphasized that feeling even more. People were taking their seats up until high under the round ceiling. The stage was set up in the north of the hall, yet despite the vastness of the arena, it seemed really close.
Amongst speakers and lights, the huge national flag of Japan hung from the top, once again suggesting that this hall was made for kings - and kings they were, as the five men of BUCK-TICK started their show shortly past 7pm to wrap up their year 2009 with this show.
And as it had been written before - there is no questioning the "DAY IN QUESTION!"
The band seemed to have a great time, too, with guitarist Imai dancing, wandering and posing all over the wide stage or bassist Higuchi smiling widely, whenever he came back into the audience's view for yet another encore...

DIQ'09 MUSIC JAPAN REPORT

The clock on each side of Nippon Budokan passed 7pm and yet the lights were still on and people kept streaming into the hall looking for their seats, meeting and chatting with friends in different rows. Still, the excitement grew by the second in anticipation for one of BUCK-TICK's annual special lives, decorated with an outstanding set list for sure. And then, in the blink of an eye it turned dark and sound effects, seeming to have the epic feel of a classic concert, drew people towards the stage and from there it was impossible to take one's eyes away. The instruments were set up on two levels on stage, each position being brightly illuminated by spotlights, as mysterious smoke arose from the still empty set of instruments.

One after another bassist Higuchi Yutaka, drummer Yagami Toll, guitarists Hoshino Hidehiko and Imai Hisashi came on stage, the first three of them dressed in black, while Lead guitarist Imai wore a colorful suit, blue shiny pants and golden boots. In stark contrast to his appearance as well, vocalist Sakurai Atsushi strode on stage last, dressed in a long black coat, wide black pants and even a black veil.
Just when the band had taken their position, lights started flashing and the epic SE turned into a fast beat, as the lights swallowed the band temporarily to the sounds of "ICONOCLASM". No one in the hall was sitting anymore and the fans were moving their arms with the rhythm to the music. Both guitarists walked over to each side of the stage as Sakurai sang in a dark voice the almost hypnotizing melody.
After a blast of light, descending into a dark blue, the lights went up for "M-A-D" again, changing the mood with bright green and yellow lights, as the steady rhythm of the shortly strummed guitar chords accentuated the persisting drum beat. Yet as Imai walks and wanders over the stage, the melody changes into an almost danceable melody with a much lighter atmosphere.

Still flowing with the beat, Sakurai greets the audience as the song ends.
"Welcome everybody! Please enjoy!" And without much of a break "無知の涙/Muchi no Namida" started with mewling and howling guitars, supported by electronic sounds before changing into a solid rock rhythm. Provocatively Sakurai pointed his microphone stand at the audience like a gun, heating up their temper yet a bit more.
With a "Thank You", he finished this song off eventually, as the lights turned into a pale blue and sound effects are distorting his voice for the beginning of "KICK (大地を蹴る男) / KICK (Daichi wo Keru Otoko)". The audience followed the scenes on stage like mesmerized, while Imai danced in his very characteristic way, moving his legs up and down.
The lights turned into a deep red and high pitched guitar sounds marked the beginning of "薔薇色の日々/Barairo no Hibi". Sakurai's voice echoed lowly through the hall, a lot calmer than before, only to change into yet a fast rhythm again. Even Higuchi on his bass was moving along, captured by the sound, much like the audience in their seats. While the verse of the songs reflects a certain sadness, the chorus seems to be much more energetic, which was clearly shown in the fans' reactions, as the moved along. Under a constant rhythm both Imai and Hoshino performed a beautiful duet.

Only as the song fades into the background, the two of them, which had been wandering all over the stage, return to their positions
During "ミウ/Miu", which was the next song to follow, the hall was filled with white lights and soft acoustic sounds, as Sakurai leaned on his amp - the spot lights all on him. The audience sank into the slow melody and into the darkness of the hall, only to reappear for the chorus. High pitched guitar sounds and complex rhythms, powerfully played by Yagami until the song faded out.
The SE "BIRTHDAY" was played there after, supported by howling guitars and something that resembled a heart beat.
For a moment the whole hall seemed to be holding their breath, before, with an inferno of fire balls on stage, "Memento Mori" caught on again. Drummer Yagami was leading the rhythm of this really spellbinding song in deep, steady bass drum and tom beats. As Sakurai was engulfed in gleaming red lights he took turns with Imai, who sang parts within the bridge. He was supported by Hoshino time and time again, as well as by the fans, which moved their hands in support during his guitar solo. As exciting as the song had started it came to an end with a number of fire fountains closing the magnificent scene.
Without a break the band went into their next song "原罪/Genzai" and the hall was showered in colorful lights once more, before being thrown back into a much darker atmosphere by the following "絶界/Zekkai". Mysterious red lights flooded the hall and in between both guitarists fought another battle in a swinging duet.

For "Coyote" Yagami hit his drumsticks against each other, counting in the rhythms of the softer, more sorrowful sounding song. The audience was clapping their hands to the beat; even to the extent that only the slapping of hands-to-hands could be heard at times, taking in a unison echo towards the stage. "Lullaby-III" became again a rather up tempo song to which Sakurai put on a hat, while a skull was decorating the top of his microphone stand. The read aura on stage complemented the sinful image perfectly.

For "tight rope" the sounds became softer again, as a beautifully starry sky was envisioned in the back of the stage, with a couple of stars becoming wandering spotlights, touching the audience in a gentle sway. Yet, the song did no stay quite as calm and changed its beat into more of a pop-tune, yet never breaking the mood of the moment. Even gentler became the tunes when under delicately flickering lights the melody of "Snow White" began and the whole arena was caught in a wintery mood with Sakurai's echoing, nearly pleading voice, singing the song with so much passion. Without breaking once, he sang the high and low parts, accompanied by Imai's guitar, which he skillfully led into another stunning guitar solo. Snow started falling quietly, drizzling onto the stage, complementing the softness of the atmosphere. Sakurai ended the song with a "Thank you!" towards the audience, who had been like frozen the beauty of the performance.

When "天使は誰だ/Tenshi ha Dare da" started, however, there was not much time to consider as the song started of with one guitar, then the second, both flowing into a solid rock song. In stark contrast the fans were then mimicking Sakurai's movements, holding out their fists. Imai came up to him to the center of the stage to sing into his microphone, getting the audience even more excited. "真っ赤な夜/Makka na Yoru" took over the strong beat and the up-tempo rhythm, which was getting faster gradually. For one last round of the main show, band and fans powered up as much as possible and under flashing white lights, powerfully fast "極東より愛を込めて / Kyokutou yori Ai wo Komete" indecated the finish with a blast. With all their might, the band played an insanely driving tempo, each of them holding their position until the songs ends with an improvised guitar solo on Imai's part until the lights turned low and out completely.

With a "Thank You" the band members left the stage.

It did not stay quiet for a long time as gradually the voices rose shouting for an encore. The lights turned up again, the band returned on stage with Bassist Higuchi coming first, closely followed by Drummer Yagami, the two guitarists and last but not least in long strides Sakurai appeared again.
"Thank you for the encore", he said when he reached his microphone and soon enough intense bass drum beats marked the beginning of "MISTY ZONE". Flashing blue lights emphasized the power of the shredded guitar sounds and the band showed their skills, with a drum and bass duet as well as a guitar duet, all brought together by Sakurai's powerful voice.
"幻想の花/Gensou no Hana" began with softer tunes and acoustic sounds from Hoshino. Sakurai sang this song with all his heart and strength, taking his microphone from the stand to put even more passion into his voice. Only when the song ended he put it back and then disappeared from stage with the other band members.

Cheers rose again, when BUCK-TICK came back in sight for another encore with Higuchi sprinting in first, waving cheerfully at the many fans. In their usual order the rest of them came as well and after a short "Thank You very much" "ROMANCE" was introduced with intensely flowing guitar sounds to an up-tempo rhythm.
Before "夢魔-The Nightmare / Muma-The Nightmare" started it turned completely dark for a moment, just to bring the hall back to live with a blast. With Higuchi and Imai jumping on stage and spinning around on their positions, it was clear that they did enjoy the live just as much as their fans. Still, the song ended with screeching guitars and the five men left the stage again.
Once again, the encore calls echoed persistently through the hall, as the audience could hardly have enough of their band and just did not want the night to end.
The lights went on again and a drum roll and short improvised solos from Yagami opened "HEAVEN". High pitched guitars and a softer voice led through out the mid-tempo song until Sakurai greeted the audience thereafter.

"Thank you for the 3rd encore as well. We hope that next year will be just as good and we wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR! This is the last song for this year!"

And for a final round of great music "RENDEZVOUS～ランデヴー～ / RENDEZVOUS- Rendezvous-" began. Fans and band powered one last time in fast rhythms and energetic movements of their hands, following the sing-song chorus until the very end - in a last get-together.
With the brightening lights closing this night a roar of applause arose from the audience and Sakurai stated "Let's meet again! Thank you and good night" and after the rest of the band finishes of the final sounds, bassist Higuchi added "Until next year!"

For sure the fans are greatly anticipating, what BUCK-TICK will bring them in 2010 as well.

Well, like in 1,5 hour it will be midnight in Poland... in many countries, like, in Japan, the New Year has came already, and in others it's still really far away. Ash, I hate this day ^ ^''

2009 was a really great year for me. Well- not always, but, mostly. I finished gymnasium and moved to a high school, where I feel so great. I met my new best friends in Spain- without them I couldn't make it through many days. I also had a chance to fulfil my dreams, and, I'm on a REALLY good way^ ^'' Ahem, it's needed to mention such great things about B-T - the new album, the new tour, ATSUSHI'S BEARD (eeeeew!). It's been a rich year for them.

Also, my love for B-T grew so much- on 10th January I made this site. I feel like it's been since forever. But it's so little time... Until now, my collection of B-T contains 9 cds, 3 magazines mentioning them, some pictures, photos, etc. ... They gave me so much inspiration into writing, drawing, and such things. They totally changed my life. I don't know what would I do if there wasn't them.

Also, I had the opportunity to finally become a little bit more self-confident than before^ ^''

Anyway, I wish you a lucky NEW B-T YEAR 2010, full of love and fulfiling of your dreams. Let B-T guide your life ;)

When I was searching for what I want for Mikołajki (oh no, another long-talk XDDD), I discovered on our 'polish Ebay', allegro, an U.V. Magazine. I just typed 'jrock'.
Guess what was my face like, when I noticed a sign saying 'BUCK TICK' on the cover...
Um, well. I nearly fainted. Yup.
And, finally, insted of receiving it on 6th (the day of Mikołajki; a celebration of the name of Saint Nicholas, which in Polish is 'Mikołaj'. It's a day when kids- yup, I'm still a child for my parents^ ^- receive small presents from Saint Nicholas.), I received it yesterday and nearly fell down because of my happiness.
Maybe my excitment is for some of you riddiculous, but I can't help it ^ ^'' Every single gadget connected with B-T gives me so much joy I can't help it^ ^

Otaku 2/2006 SCAN

Well... a long time ago (when I was a 13-year-old, innocence no-BiTch), there was a magazine called 'Otaku'. Which I also didn't buy, because I didn't know it existed. A year ago, I could even had a chance to have my article published in there. But, nevermind, let's focus on the Autumn's 2006 issue.
Well. It's like when I was reading the issue from 2007 (like, 3 weeks ago), and, in the article about J, I noticed one sentence- 'he was inspired by many artist, like Buck Tick (an article about them you can see in Otaku nr 2).
I JUST FAINTED.
And then called my best friends XD
And, now, here I am, with that Otaku's issue in my hands, all thanks to my beloved Ukwiał-sama (arigatou gozaimashita! Daisuki! x3), and I'm about to share the scan with you XD
Althought most of you won't understand it, I hope it doesn't matter ^ ^'' I just wanted to show you, that even in a strange, not famous country like Poland we have B-T fans.

BUCK-TICK Tour memento mori -REBIRTH- Oct 11th at Zepp Tokyo
A Blood Red Night with BUCK-TICK――

The BUCK-TICK concert tour 'BUCK-TICK Tour memento mori -REBIRTH-' started on September 12th at Yokohama BLITZ. Earlier this year the band had gone on a different tour titled 'BUCK-TICK TOUR2009 "memento mori"', which had ended with a final performance at Tokyo's NHK Hall. During the latter tour BUCK-TICK performed in mid to large-size venues, while for this tour they played mainly in small to mid-size ones. The members were able to come into closer contact with their fans. Also during this tour they took the worldview of the album 'memento mori' to the next level. This is an in-depth live report of the BUCK-TICK concert that took place on October 11th at Zepp Tokyo.

Zepp Tokyo, with a maximum capacity of 2500 people, was the biggest music hall that BUCK-TICK had chosen for their 'REBIRTH' tour. The venue is close to the sea, and since this was October a strong cold wind was blowing outside. But once inside Zepp Tokyo it felt hot from the intensity of the many fans. Everyone was ready for action, with a goodly number of them wearing concert T-shirts with towels around their necks. They were smiling at each other, and waiting for the show to begin. Eventually it was time for the concert to start. Blue and red lights floated around the hall. The audience started handclapping in rhythm with the background music blaring from the speakers. As if on cue with the handclaps, the BUCK-TICK members walked onto the stage. Lots of fans started to call out the members' names. The handclapping continued. From the left, Sakurai appeared and sauntered to the middle of the stage. The first song to begin the night was 'Les Enfants Terribles'. A rainbow colored light rained down on the venue. The backing vocals of Imai and Hoshino could be heard clearly. Fans raised their fists, and during Imai's guitar solo they bounced around as if on fire. The Zepp Tokyo concert was held during the latter half part of their tour schedule. Right from the beginning, it was evident that they were close to perfecting their performance routine for the tour.

The next song was 'スズメバチ / Suzumebachi'. The drums tapped out a rhythmic beat, and a lighthearted melody filled the hall. The crowd clapped their hands just as loudly as the drums. The members and the fans were perfectly in sync with each other. During '勝手にしやがれ / Katte ni Shiyagare' BUCK-TICK wildly moved around as if to plunge the stage into turmoil. The audience reached out with their hands in an attempt to get as close as possible to the members. The upbeat track also had a very mature quality. Sakurai gave a short speech. "Thank you for coming today. We hope you enjoy the show." Then they moved on to 'モンタージュ / Montage'. Along with Imai's guitar the stage lights started to race through the venue. The two guitarists Hoshino and Imai, together with the rhythm section Higuchi and Yagami started off 'MOTEL 13'. As if to calm down the wild music, they played 'アンブレラ / Umbrella' and 'Coyote'. The quiet, subtle melodies were in stark contrast to the forceful charge of a short while ago. The songs lured the fans deeper into the world of BUCK-TICK. During the next song 'キラメキの中で・・・ / Kirameki no Naka de・・・' that world expanded and engulfed the whole venue. The sounds of the bass slithered along the floor and gradually filled Zepp Tokyo. The heavy melody pressed down on the audience. 'Lullaby-Ⅲ' brought the fans to a standstill. The fans watched with rapt attention as Imai thrummed his guitar while gently rocking back and forth.

At that point the loudspeakers started to play music again. It felt as if the concert was divided into to parts. After the music finished, the lights dashed up and down. The tour and album title 'Memento mori' began. While carrying a microphone stand, Sakurai moved about and performed aggressively like something had snapped inside of him. Imai backed up Sakurai, and Higuchi gazed out at the audience while mouthing the lyrics. During 'Jonathan Jet-Coaster' and 'LIMBO' the ferocious music swept through the venue. In 'BUSTER' Yagami's drums violently shook the crowd. In tandem with the drums, Sakurai crazily headbanged. The fans went ecstatic. Sakurai invited the audience to go even wilder. "Sing and dance with us! Let's party!" The fans answered with raised fists. The audience jumped and waved their arms, making the entire venue bounce. They looked like they were given more strength by the flashing stage lights. The next track was '天使は誰だ / Tenshi wa Dare da'. The vicious melody made everyone let loose their thoughts and feelings that they had kept hidden deep inside them. During '真っ赤な夜-Bloody- / Makka na Yoru-Bloody-' the band showed a real 'Makka na Yoru (Blood Red Night)' by covering the hall with a deep red strobe lights. After finishing the song, the members left the stage. But the excited fans wanted more.

The first floor of the venue was a standing room only area, and the considerably large space was packed from front to back with people. With such an audience calling out for an encore, their loud chants were deafening. In response to their calls BUCK-TICK reappeared onstage. They started to play the fast-paced track '地下室のメロディー / Chikashitsu no Melody'. Everyone in the hall had their fists raised high above their heads and violently shook their bodies. Sakurai in a low voice said "We're going to give you the next song 'ai o komete (愛を込めて; with love)'." The audience gleefully cheered and screamed. It was time for '極東より愛を込めて / Kyokuto yori Ai o Komete'. Sakurai sang while also asking and confirming the audience's love. The guitars never slowed down. Some fans were zealously headbanging. Others listened intently with their eyes closed, becoming intoxicated with the music.

The band members returned for another encore. The long night wasn't over yet. The heavy, oppressive melody of the last song disappeared with 'Alice in Wonder Underground'. This track had a cute and fancy quality to it. Pink stage lights shined down on the hall. The band members greeted the fans as they were led into the make-believe world of the song. In sync with the drums, the audience waved their arms back and forth. The members looked on gleefully as they took the crowds into the 'Underground'. The next song 'REVOLVER' pushed the fans straight back into the real world. Higuchi's bass darted across, and the mood immediately changed to an aggressive one. Lots of different melodies were belted out from the band. The drums resounded deeply throughout the hall. During the chorus the drumbeating gradually became stronger as if it were competing with the guitars. 'HEAVEN' was the very last song for the night. The guitars emitted gentle sounds. They were followed by the drums. Finally Sakurai's vocals joined them. The hall was so silent, the chaos of a while ago seemed like it were a dream. In place of the frenzied heat, a warm feeling permeated through the venue. The fans, mesmerized with the music, sang along during the chorus. While still being surrounded by the sounds of Imai's guitar, the members left the stage. Applause welled up from the audience. Even after the members were gone, they kept clapping for a long while.

As was mentioned before, the concert at Zepp Tokyo was held during the latter half of their tour. BUCK-TICK was close to successfully performed in a near perfect way. For this tour they traveled all around Japan from Hokkaido to Okinawa. On October 31st they performed their final concert at Okinawa's NAMURA HALL. The tour continued to grow and nurture the worldview of the album 'memento mori'. But they're not over yet. On December 23rd they will release a concert DVD titled 'memento mori 090702'. It will surely be a great, if a bit early, Christmas present. Fans will have a chance to enjoy BUCK-TICK right up to the end of 2009.

Sure, right now it contains only one song... huh... but it's all because I had to work on the layout and everything else, too, so I didn't have time. 'Mienai mono wo(...)' TRANSLATION

This week, I'm gonna work on the 'Six/Nine' section, which will contain all of the lyrics translations (including S/N's singles), subtitles videos, photo gallery, reviews, and all of the informations that can be found. I'm starting today by giving you another translation for 'Mienai mono wo miyou to suru gokai subete gokai da'.
I think that Six/Nine is really worth having its own section on this site. Not only because I love this album so much- also because it have so many meanings, which fans ought to know.
So, starting from today, I'll try to upload the section as soon as it's possible.

BT in Zepp Tokyo

Hi everybody! This is musicJAPANplus writer kanako! Long time no see! Or wait, did we meet recently?
It's officially autumn here in Tokyo...it has become a bit chilly lately. But in Ikebukuro, where anime is a deeply rooted culture, events were being held and hollers from fans were going up throughout the streets! While eyeing the fired up crowds I made my way to Zepp Tokyo near Tokyo Bay! Ikebukuro wasn't the only place that was hotter than summer! A very exciting concert was about to begin inside Zepp Tokyo!

The day I went to Zepp Tokyo was on a holiday, so lots of tourists were walking about. But even among them a certain group of people were attracting attention. They were all wearing concert T-shirts! As I neared the venue the crowds grew thicker, and finally I reached the entrance! Although there was an hour left until the gates opened, there was already a huge crowd!! One person from a foreign country was just passing by, and the person asked me "What's going on here?" I replied "A Japanese rock band called BUCK-TICK is going to perform live!" The person seemed very interested. Let's hope the person remembers about BUCK-TICK and eventually becomes a fan♪

After going inside the venue soon became jam-packed with fans. It was difficult just to walk! I waded through the crowd wearing concert T-shirts and holding towels, and eventually found a place to sit. It was a long time since I last had attended a BUCK-TICK concert, so I was very excited. Since they are still continuing their tour we cannot reveal the set-list. But we will proudly present the list alongside an in-depth live report so stay tuned!

During the second encore, Higuchi made a 'cute' mistake while playing the first song. The performance ground to a halt. Higuchi with palms together gestured 'sorry' to the members and the audience. The fans called out "Kawaii! (かわいい; cute)' At the end of the show Sakurai 'supported' Higuchi by saying "Lots of interesting things happened today. As for that song, that was a revised edition (laugh)." Everyone roared with laughter, from the audience, members, staff and all other people supporting the band.
